I enjoy being upset when people use Internet neologisms like "webisode" or "blogosphere." It makes me feel linguistically superior.

I almost cried when I read this.

A Muslim Letter to Christians - Newsweek Beliefs - MSNBC.com

after so many years of hatred and strife, someone finally had the vision, compassion, and guts to organize something like this.  i dont know...i cant really express what im feeling right now.

i never thought that i would live to see something so beautiful.  this is truly a testament, truly a miracle.  i havent been this moved in so long.

regardless of what anyone might say, Islam is truly the religion of peace.

isn't it funny that after women got the right to vote, the first major reform they pushed for was to kill babies?

throws the whole "domestic bliss" thing right out the window...

[Current Music |Nobody Knows - The Tony Rich Project]

Ay, how fast time flies by.  If only I could return to the irrational, loud, and awkward goofball I was a few years ago.  It's not that life is getting worse or more stressful.  It's just that now I realize how precious few years I have to be a kid . . . and it feels like everything's so trivial, and that little things like school just get in the way of real accomplishment.  But I guess it's a game you have to play to guarantee a decent living; the system of judging talent and skill based on successes in schoolwork, and later, college entrances, has been so well-established in modern society that breaking out of it would make it significantly harder to get a decent-paying job.  How I itch to get a real job.  I have a goal, so eff this and let me get on with my life already.  I don't want to spent my youth cooped up in this institution in which they don't teach you what you really need and want to learn.

<sigh> I wish I were sassy and black. . .

i had this large scab on my left foot for about a month now.  its about 2-3 cm to each side and can be best described as an irregular quadrilateral.  now im kinda sad because these past few days its been slowly peeling off as the skin beneath it healed.  i dont know, man.  its like a part of me.

funny thing is, i have a smaller scab on my right foot that's been there for like 2 months, and its still perfectly intact.  though for some reason, i've never been as attached to that one.

oy...

school's becoming so pointless.  with the exception of english, all my classes could easily be learned on my own (esp. since ballado's focusing class time on espanolandia).  i find ap bio to be the most worthless waste of time ever, since the objectives and worksheets are basically busy work, and her lectures are just shortened summaries of the book.

makes me wish summer would come earlier...

i recently received a letter from standford for their summer program.  it's a three or four-week thing where you basically live there and learn crazy stuff like quantum theory, computer programming, and biotech.  plus, you get to hang out with standford instructors and students.

sounds pretty awesome, eh?

except for the outrageous price.  $40 for applying: no guarantee you'll get in.  plus $4000 - $5000 for the actual program.  holy crap.

edit:

hehe...i shouldnt be naive, but....i received letters from 6 of the top 20 universities in the US....Caltech, Standford, Columbia, Washington in St. Louis, and Emory.

yeah....im so sexy....probably never get into any of those, but its something to tell my grandkids....
